A scrub fire broke out next to a railway line just of Tahekeroa Road, Makarau north of Auckland at around 4pm on Wednesday.
It took 5 fire appliances & 2 tankers to get the scrub fire under control at a railway crossing north of Kaukapakapa – Rodney District
Deputy principal rural fire officer Scott Marchant said it was most likely caused by a passing freight train, other residents in the area suggested it could have been the road side lawnmower that was in the area earlier.
